The A47 — King’s Lynn across to Yarmouth
The road that crosses the whole county west to east, and the one nobody from outside Norfolk expects to be single carriageway for as much of it as it is.
What this road does to a move
This is the Midlands approach and the one that catches out removal firms that have never worked here. Long single-carriageway stretches, a series of roundabouts, and overtaking opportunities that a loaded lorry cannot use.
Journey planning on the A47 is about the road, not the mileage. A move from the Midlands that would be routine on a motorway needs a genuinely different schedule, and a firm quoting it off a mapping tool will be wrong.
The Acle Straight at the eastern end is flat, exposed and prone to closure in high wind, which matters for high-sided vehicles more than for anything else on the road.
